Pleasant Crump

The last of the men who wore the gray was laid to rest on December 31, 1951.  Other men claiming to be Confederate veterans survived him, but there claims have been debunked.  Crump was born on December 23, 1847.   Just 16, he enlisted in the 10th Alabama at Petersburg, Virginia in November 1864, and fought in the final campaign of the Army of Northern Virginia.  He was the last survivor of the surrender at Appomattox.
