I find this schedule to be a very long day, especially when it is recalled that since his return from the Tehran Conference in December 1943, Roosevelt had been in manifestly failing health. I have read that in 1944 he was restricting himself to working four hours a day. That was certainly not the case on June 7. I guess this is another example of a patient saying that he will heed the advice of a physician and doing as he pleases. Of course at the helm of a nation waging a world war across the globe, it is difficult to see how FDR could have taken it easy.
