The Great War is Coming to a Close

A century ago the Great War was coming to a close.  A defeated Ottoman Empire signed an armistice with the Allies and was out of the War.  Bulgaria had sued for peace in September.  Austria-Hungary was dissolving in revolutions and, and signed an armistice with Italy on November 3.  Germany stood, or rather tottered, alone.  Wracked by a gathering storm of revolt, and with the German armies in the West facing total defeat, Germany was also desperately seeking an armistice.  Premature stories proclaiming peace were appearing in the papers of the Allied nations.  The reality would soon catch up with the false rumors.
