The Lost Book of Abraham

In 1835 Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Mormons, published a book which purported to be a translation of book written by the Abraham of the Bible while he was in Egypt.  Smith said he based his translation on papyri records he had purchased.  In 1966 ten fragments of the papyri used by Smith were found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.  Egyptologists quickly determined that the papyri were an Egyptian funeral text and had nothing to do with Abraham.  Go here to read the translation made by the Egyptologists and the translation written by Smith.
